About Us

What is BFTP of Northeast Pennsylvania?

The Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeast Pennsylvania (BFTP/NEP) is part of a state-funded economic development initiative created in 1983. We link early-stage technology firms and established manufacturers with funding, people, technology, universities and other resources to help them prosper. In the process, we fuel economic growth for northeastern Pennsylvania. The program has been modeled nationally and internationally.

BFTP/NEP serves 21 counties. Our Enterprise Developers work with early stage firms and established companies to enhance their entire way of doing business. Typical investments range from $10,000 to $150,000 per year for up to three years.

Our success is measured based on the commercial success that our clients achieve as a direct result of our assistance. We provide early-stage and established manufacturers with funding, networking opportunities, and technical and business expertise.

Our mission is to boost the economy of our region with new and retained jobs, new technology companies, and established manufacturers that are more competitive.

BFTP/NEP is located on the campus of Lehigh University in Bethlehem and has regional offices in Lewisburg, Reading and Wilkes-Barre. The program is an initiative of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and is governed by the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority.
